Nepal to this day is one of the most underdeveloped and poorest countries in the world. Most of the income for this nation comes from its agricultural communities. There is great potential for the use of hydropower in this area but due to the government instability and the risk of natural disasters in the area, little has been done on this front.
In 1996 there was a civil war that broke out in Nepal that lasted for the next 10 years. Upon the end of the war in 2006, the government has shifted political parties several times as it has attempted to draft a constitution, which is due in May of this year.
